Residents of Sulindabad in Saharsa staged a protest on Monday morning against continuous power cuts and blocked the road for nearly four hours, demanding a permanent solution to the electricity crisis.
The protest began around 6 AM after locals faced uninterrupted electricity problems for the past three days. A large number of villagers gathered on the road and stopped traffic, expressing anger over frequent power outages.
The residents claimed that Sulindabad falls under the municipal area and they regularly pay electricity bills like urban consumers. However, they alleged that their area is still connected to a rural feeder, resulting in repeated power disruptions.
The protesters demanded that Sulindabad should be connected to the town feeder so that residents can get a stable electricity supply. They questioned why they are being provided rural feeder services despite being part of the city area.
Following the road blockade, officials from the local administration and police reached the spot and held talks with the protesters. After receiving assurance from officials regarding their concerns, the residents ended the protest and traffic movement returned to normal.
The residents said they will continue their protest if their demand for better electricity supply is not addressed soon.
