Saharsa: A major development has been announced for Saharsa railway station as the station is set to be developed into a large terminal station. Samastipur Division DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra made this announcement during his inspection visit to Saharsa on Saturday.
The DRM inspected the ongoing yard remodeling work, washing pit expansion, Amrit Bharat Station building project, circulating area, and passenger facilities at the station. He directed officials to speed up the ongoing projects while maintaining quality standards.
According to DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra, the yard remodeling project will include the construction of new railway lines, including stabling lines and pit lines, to improve train operations and maintenance facilities. An additional washing pit will also be developed at Saharsa station.
He said that all necessary facilities required for a major terminal station will be ensured at Saharsa. The project is targeted to be completed by 2027, and regular reviews and inspections will be conducted at division and headquarters levels to monitor progress.
During the inspection, the DRM also reviewed the road construction work from Bengali Bazar railway gate to Gangjala railway crossing and instructed officials to remove electricity poles coming in the way.
He further directed officials to keep the station’s circulating area, Amrit Bharat Station entrance, and vegetable market area free from encroachment.
The development project is expected to transform Saharsa railway station and provide improved facilities for passengers in the coming years.
