Big Action Against Saran DPO, Department Sends Ajit Amar Harijan Back to Saharsa

Chhapra (Saran):
In a major development, the deputation of District Programme Officer (DPO) Ajit Amar Harijan has been cancelled by the Education Department following allegations of corruption and disproportionate assets. The officer, who was posted on deputation in Saran, has now been directed to return to his original posting district, Saharsa.

Despite June 29 being a government holiday on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti, the Education Department issued an order regarding the cancellation of his deputation. The action came after reports highlighted allegations against the DPO and raised questions over his long stay in Saran.

According to the order issued by Education Department Director (Administration) Manoranjan Kumar, Ajit Amar Harijan, who is a Programme Officer from Saharsa and was currently working on deputation in Saran, has been relieved from his deputation with immediate effect.

The department has instructed him to report immediately at the District Education Officer’s office in Saharsa, his original place of posting. Copies of the order have also been sent to the Accountant General, Education Minister’s office, divisional authorities, district officials, and treasury officers for necessary action.

The matter gained attention after serious allegations of corruption and possession of assets beyond known sources of income were raised against the officer. Saran District Magistrate Vaibhav Shrivastava had conducted an inquiry into the matter and prepared a charge report highlighting various issues.

However, questions are now being raised over the department’s decision to only cancel the deputation instead of taking stricter action. Many educationists in Saran have questioned how an officer facing such serious allegations remained on deputation for nearly 32 months.

They said that deputations of regular employees often come under review within a short period, but in this case, the officer continued working in Saran for a long duration without major action.

The cancellation of deputation has ended Ajit Amar Harijan’s posting in Saran, but attention now remains on whether the department will take further action regarding the corruption allegations.
